Our Mission

JLR Design Group is dedicated to providing new and creative ideas to food facilities planning. We view design as art that makes itself useful. This approach inspires us to design projects that are as visually appealing as they are ergonomic and efficient.

Our History

JLR Design Group was established in April of 1993 by three Principals who had worked together as a team for over 20 years. During this period they won four consecutive national awards from Restaurants & Institutions magazine for creative design solutions.


JLR Design Group is now providing food service design for schools, colleges, universities, hotels, corporations, airlines and convention centers. This diversity of projects provides a benefit to our clients in our exposure to a variety of different problems and design solutions.

Having over 20 years experience  in the foodservice and hospitality industries, Garrett has a background that includes: Operations, management, sales, design and consulting. Garrett joined the firm in 2013 as an associate consultant and as of 2020 is now principle and owner of  JLR Design Group. Garrett has provided design services for Restaurants, Casinos, School Districts, Universities, and healthcare in his career. Garrett uses his diverse background & experience to help execute efficient designs for a long-lasting food service operation.

With over 28 years of food service industry, Deb is the REVIT/BIM/Auto CADD manager and technician for JLR Design Group.  Deb provides an immense amount of technical & design drafting knowledge to JLR. Deb has been with the firm since its inception in 1993 and prior to that, working with the three founding principles at Westin hotel group.  She is the resident manager of our Auto CAD, Revit and BIM software. Her can do attitude helps JLR deliver our services on time and in synced with our client’s goals.

Chelsea Lee

Chelsea gained experience working as a Purchasing Agent for a local Design/Build Millwork Company before starting with JLR Design Group. She also has proficiency of the various levels of design, construction and renovation though her previous careers. She works with diligence and determination to make the client and design teams relationship as fruitful as possible through efficient and effective planning.

Jennifer Murphy
Director of Design

Jennifer joined the JLR team in 2022 as the Director of Design.  She started her foodservice career working in restaurants and has been a foodservice consultant for the past 15 years.  As a professional member of FCSI as well as a LEED Accredited Professional, Jennifer safeguards every project’s design and sustainability goals.  She has provided design services for a variety of projects including Corporate Dining, Restaurants, Healthcare, K-12 Schools, and Universities.  A detail oriented designer and drafter, Jennifer also helps to ensure that all of JLR’s projects have correct and concise information in an aesthetically pleasing format.
